Funshine Early Learning Centre ("FUNSHINE") is a non-profit, charitable organization. We are very proud to be in operation for over 30 years, with a bright future ahead.

FUNSHINE I

Funshine officially opened in April of 1988 offering 35 licensed childcare spaces. Today, we offer 40 licensed spaces; 8 infant and 32 preschool. Funshine is Virden’s only licensed childcare facility, offering quality childcare for ages 12 weeks to 6 years.

The Oxford Street location was renovated in 2020 to upgrade and enlarge the kitchen, brighten up the space with neutral colours and more natural light, and a beautiful deck with an exterior door from the infant room was installed for easier access to outside play.

This location is licensed for:

• 32 preschool spaces

• 8 infant spaces

FUNSHINE II

Thanks to the partnership of land with Fort La Bosse School Division in December of 2012, planning and design of this new facility began in conjunction with on-going fundraising events. The 6000 sq. ft. facility opened in July of 2019.
This facility has natural light in every room, a fully equipped kitchen to prepare healthy meals & snacks, classrooms that promote learning and development, and an office & staff room for planning and preparation of early learning activities.

This location is licensed for:

• 54 preschool spaces

• 12 infant spaces

FUNSHINE Ill

In 2011 Funshine started a preschool program out of the local elementary school, Mary Montgomery.

Following the successful launch of our preschool program, Funshine expanded our services and started a school age program. This program provides care before and after school as well as full time care during the summer months.

• 17 nursery/preschool spaces

• 15 school age spaces
